| About GASC |
| We are an affiliate club of the Australian Shepherd Club Of America (ASCA), the largest club dedicated to a single breed of dog in the United States. Our club covers the St. Louis metropolitan area (Missouri/Illinois). Australian Shepherds are an American breed (No connection with Australia!!!). They have herded sheep and cattle in the West since the 19th century, and now in the 21st century, Australian Shepherds have become companion pets as well as working dogs. To give dogs some working opportunities, GASC sponsors agility meets, herding lessons and trials, as well as conformation and obedience competitions. The goal is to have fun while our dogs have fun! Besides sponsoring dog seminars, many members of our club are willing to mentor other members about dog activities. The Gateway Australian Shepherd Club wants to protect and preserve the Australian Shepherd, and to educate the public about this wonderful and special American breed. New members are always WELCOME! |
